For over 10 years Mi Broadcast has been manufacturing custom fibre assemblies for our customers using the Deplhi range of 4 channel military connectors, standard single core connectors such as the ST and the SC, and more recently the Telecast MX Mini Epanded Beam Connector, the LEMO 3K.93C Hybrid Camera Cable connector and the Neutrik opticalCON range of connectors.
We use Military spec, Tactical 4 core cable for the Delphi & MX connectors and Furukawa 9.2mm Hybrid Camera Cable for the lemo 3K.93C. Both designed for the harshest environments and highest performance.

Neutrik – opticalCON LC Based Connector Range

The opticalCON system guarantees a safe, dust protected and rugged connection. Being compatible to conventional LC connectors the opticalCON DUO and QUAD offer the choice of using cost effective LC cables or the rugged tactical cable assembly for mobile applications. OpticalCON is the ideal solution for equipment connections and system integration offering LC compatibility on chassis connector front and rear.

The opticalCON DUO cable connector accommodates a standard optical LC-Duplex connector in a ruggedised and durable all-metal housing. It features a spring-loaded push-pull locking mechanism and an excellent cable retention utilising aramid yarn. The optical connection is exceptional well protected against dirt and dust by an automatically operated sealing cover.

opticalCON will be available on TAC2 and TAC4 field deployable fibre optic cable (see below) in both singlemode and multimode together with custom assemblies and field installations. The low cost of the chassis connector makes it a viable alternative to traditional connectors in fixed installations.

Delphi – 4 Channel Hermaphroditic Connector

The Delphi 4 channel hermaphroditic fibre optic connector has been used on Telecast Products and Fibre for over 10 years and continues to be a market leader both on products and TAC4 Multi-Mode and Single-Mode fibre.

Its robustness, ease of use and simplicity continues to see it used on many major OB company satellite trucks, major televised events and the majority of the Mi Broadcast hire stock.

The Delphi plug and Chassis Mount are a standard pin-socket connector that has been designed to withstand miltary demands and is highly effective against crushing, impact, cable twisting and bending. It's genderless connection prevents cables being run in incorrectly and it's ease of cleaning has led to many companies purchasing cleaning kits and maintaining the cable and connectors themselves. It is available with Single or Multi-mode cable and has the option of the Unique, Rugged Tactical fibre optic reel available in SM, MD or XL(details on reels available on request).

LEMO – 3K.93C HDTV Camera Connector

The LEMO 3K.93C connector is in wide use from studio and stadium installations to OB use and is in increasing demand as the requirement for HDTV and long distance applications increases.

Its uses a standard butt joint for the 2 fibre, 4 power and 2 signal cores of its favoured Furukawa camera cable (see below), the F2 fibre contact in the connector is of ceramic design and achieves the highest standard optical performance. It uses plug and socket connectors, indentified by Red (socket/truck end) & Green (plug/camera end) gaiters, for easy chaining of cables.

The 3K.93C uses a push-pull self latching system for easy mating, has a compact design and very low optical loss with every connection. Using removable alignment sleeves it is easy to clean and is sealed for environmental protection to give reliable outdoor use.

MX – Mini Expanded Beam Connector

Telecast's new MX connector series represents a major breakthrough for fiber in field production. Using advanced expanded beam technology, this is the most dependable, easiest to maintain fiber connector available.

Reliability by Design, unlike conventional pin-and-socket butt-joint connectors, the MX mating interface consists of easy to clean lenses. There are no recesses to trap dirt or interfere with signal transfer. Cleaning is simply a matter of wiping off the lenses with a lint-free cloth. Fiber ends are protected from the elements and each other. There is no physical contact between fibers or between mating lenses. Similarly, there are no fragile sleeves or alignment mechanisms to break. Reliability means dependability, and you can depend on a more predictable, repeatable mating every time, thanks to expanded beam technology.

Furukawa – Hybrid Fibre Optic Camera Cable (LEMO connector)

Furukawa Camera Cable is standardised by SMPTE as a cable for TV cameras and is a leading cable in the broadcast industry, recommended by LEMO as the superior cable choice for their camera cable connectors.

For use on High Definition Cameras it consists of 4 power cores, 2 signal cores and 2 single mode fibre cores. Regularly field deployable, the cable is 9.2mm and weighs approximately 36kgs per 300m.

The cable will be available for hire and sale and comes terminated with the LEMO 3K.93C Connector (see above), it is available up to 300m due to the weight, with the hire stock available in 100 or 300m lengths and for sale in any customer defined length. All cables come complete with Red (truck end) and Green (camera end) protective gaiters.

TAC4 Fibre – Military Tactical Cable (Delphi Connector)

Our Tac–4–HD four fibre heavy–duty cable is 6mm OD and weighs only 12kgs per 300m. As well as non–corroding, it has military tactical design that is flexible in cold weather and has electrical isolation.

Designed for use in adverse environments where reduced size and weight are important, TAC4 cable is excellent for use in deployment/retrieval applications such as video coverage of news, sporting events and concerts.

Although our standard cable and the majority of our hire stock is 4 core, Delphi connectors are also available on 8 & 12 core cable, plus the Telecast MX is available on 2 core cable. We are also able to break out cable to ST & SC connectors and supply them with a field pulling stock for repeated use of a conventionally indoor/permanent install connector.
